Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is an organic compound with the formula (CH₂)₄O. The compound is classified as heterocyclic compound, specifically a cyclic ether. It is a colorless, water-miscible organic liquid with low viscosity. It is widely used as a solvent for surface coatings, anti-corrosion coatings, printing inks, tapes and film coatings. As a reaction solvent, the thickness and brightness of the aluminum layer can be arbitrarily controlled when used in electroplating aluminum solution.

Tetrahydrofuran itself can be polycondensed to form polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), also known as tetrahydrofuran homopolyether.
